Bharuch is the ancient city located on the banks of river Narmada and exists since the era of Mahabharata. Historians have different names like Bharuch, Bhrigutirth and Bhrigukachchha to explain the city. This prehistoric city shot into prominence during the Solanki rule. As per the Hindu mythology, the big Asura king, Mahabali organized a grand yagna and a Brahmin boy, Vaman came to suspend his ritual and ultimately set an end to his command. Bharuch is well known for its salty peanuts.
